Baby Shower Cupcakes

Baby showers must have cupcakes, and the new modern shower has put a twist on the traditional treat. Today’s baby showers may feature both edible baby shower cupcakes as well as diaper cupcakes. Diaper cupcakes are not edible; they are created from diapers, ribbons, and other embellishments and are a perfect addition to any baby shower.
However no matter what type of cupcake you prefer, one thing is certain, presentation is vital to the success of your display.

It doesn’t matter if you are using store or bakery bought cupcakes or are creating and decorating them yourself. You’ll find that your cupcakes will look best if they are displayed on a cupcake stand as opposed to being served flat on a tray on a table. Cupcake stands are inexpensive to purchase and add dimension and height to your display. In fact, you may find that the cupcake display looks so great that you may choose to use it as a centerpiece on your food table. Additionally, you’ll find that it is easy to assemble your cupcakes on the stand, however most stands have a small tray at the top for the main cupcake. If you like you may choose to create a very special cupcake that has extra embellishments for the mom to be. You may also choose to add a different item to the top of the cupcake stand as well. As long as you have the weight balanced, your creativity can run wild and you may choose to make a very special topping for your cupcake stand.

When purchasing baby shower cupcake stands, look at the overall design and structure and choose one that you know will support the amount of cupcakes you will be serving. Also, if you choose a cupcake stand that has a bar or arch at the very top, you will be able to attach a ribbon, flowers, or other adornment to the top of your display.

If you don’t want to create edible baby shower cupcakes, you can create wonderful diaper cupcakes instead. If you’ve seen a diaper cake, then you understand how beautiful and realistic these creations appear. Diaper cupcakes are no exception. The only difference between diaper cakes and diaper cupcakes is size. To create a diaper cupcake you will take several small diapers, size 1 or 2 and roll them. Once they are rolled, secure them with a rubber band. Now, use as many diapers until you have created the size cupcake that you would like. You can create as small or large a cupcake; there is no right or wrong way to create your cupcake. When you have determined the size of the cupcake, bind it with a satin ribbon and tie. You can then create a topping for your cupcake from artificial flowers, ruffles, ribbons, or anything that you think looks best. There is another way to create a cupcake but this one does not use diapers. Instead, you can use a baby blanket or towel to create a realistic looking cupcake. Take a baby towel and fold it in half lengthwise, then fold it in half along the width. Once folded roll it up and secure it with a band. Now take the top of the towel and fluff it up a little bit, as if you were opening the petals of a flower. You’ll soon recognize that the towel has the appearance of a flowery cupcake. You can even take small washcloths and roll them up in the same manner, secure them with a band, and open them up in the same fashion to create little rosettes. Insert these in the top of the towel, between layers. Be sure to add a wide ribbon to the base of your towel cupcake.
